We just got off the phone with Jomie and she's doing fine. She even expects to be able to get into Stan's van on her own for the follow-up visit with Dr. Luna in Tepic the first week of January. That left leg must really be starting to get strong and her technique improving.
Stan also has Skype working if you want to contact her that way, computer-to-computer. They are an hour earlier than San Antonio time, i.e., 7PM in San Antonio is 6PM in Guayabitos. Email me if you need her Skype account name.
I'm still trying to figure out how to put a spreadsheet matrix on the blog, but until then here's my first recap of medical expenses incurred and the donations to date. All numbers are approximate and converted to $US unless noted.
90% of all expenses have been paid, one way or the other, though Jomie will continue to incur additional expenses for check-ups and the removal of the hardware in March or April.
Medical Expenses to date: $22,000 (+Family travel @ $5K)
Donations to date: $ 5,400
--------------------------------- ----------
Net Diff ($16,600)
Cash Donations:
Mexico $ 2,211
US/Canada $ 100
Tonya's Co-Workers $3,106
---------------------------------- ----------
Total $5,417
Mexico Residents' donations
12-Dec Mateja's Customers' Bulk Donation - $12,880P
17-Dec Crazy Nelly's & Customers - $ 82P
Personal Donations from other friends - $ 1,100US
We also had virtually free ambulance service for both the run from Puerto Vallarta to Tepic and the ride home from Tepic. I know the ride home was much easier both in terms of her health and the fact that Herman and his team were driving.
I just want to say again that the support Jomie has received from friends and family has been overwhelming. Obviously financial support is important, but the hands on care she continues to receive from local friends has been phenomenal.
Lastly, if you haven't read about the plans for the music festival fund raiser in January, check out the Jaltemba Sol site for details. (Link on the right)
While our loss of Kenny is painful and will be long lasting, Jomie's recovery leaves us with a lot to be thankful for, so everyone please have a safe and and happy Christmas and New Years.
Feliz Navidad
Tonya, Teresa and Ralph...
